Foods that Speed Up your Metabolism

Your body constantly burns calories, even when you're doing nothing. This resting metabolic rate is much higher in people with more muscle. Every pound of muscle uses about 6 calories a day just to sustain itself, while each pound of fat burns only 2 calories daily. That small difference can add up over time.

Your metabolism is partly ruled by genetics, but you can rev it up naturally by eating right. Fill up on the following foods to increase your body's fat-burning power.

Water
Your body needs water to process calories. If you are even mildly dehydrated, your metabolism may slow down. In one study, adults who drank eight or more glasses of water a day burned more calories than those who drank four.
Tip: Drink water cold, which forces your body to use more calories to warm it up.

Grapefruit
Grapefruit contains naringenin, an antioxidant that researchers at the Scripps Clinic in California found helps your body use insulin more efficiently, keeping your blood sugar in check and improving calorie burn.

Oatmeal
Oatmeal is a good start to the day for most people. Compared to other breakfast options it has plenty more fiber, and as your body works to break it down and pass it through it revs itself up and burns off more calories.
They help you stave off hunger, but whole grains also take more energy to digest, so your body burns more calories when you eat them

Green Tea
It is now a well-known fact, through multiple scientific studies, that green tea extract can significantly boost the metabolism, as well as provide a variety of other health benefits. Green tea is delicious and it’s also rich in antioxidants that actively fight harmful free radicals!

Drinking green tea  offers the combined benefits of caffeine and catechins, substances shown to rev up the metabolism for a couple of hours. Research suggests that drinking 2 to 4 cups of either tea may push the body to burn 17% more calories during moderately intense exercise for a short time.

Hot Peppers
eating hot peppers not only speeds up your metabolism, it also reduces cravings. This is related to its capsaicin content, a compound that stimulates the body’s pain receptors, temporarily increasing blood circulation and metabolic rate

Research shows that a spicy meal can increase your metabolism by up to 25 percent for three hours after you've eaten it,

Brocolli
High in calcium (a known weight-reducer), broccoli is also extraordinarily high in vitamins C, K and A. One serving of broccoli will also provide you with plenty of folate and dietary fiber, plus a variety of antioxidants. Broccoli is also one of the best detox foods you can add to your diet.
